Type Locality and Naming

Sanya Basin. The Hainan Geological Brigade erected the Tangta Gr in 1975. The section for the designation is in Tangtadaling of Gaofeng of the Yazu County of Hainan.


Lithology and Thickness

The Tangtadaling Formation is made up of andesite-dacitic-rhyolitic breccia tuff lava. The Tangtadaling Formation is 613.5 m thick.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Its base marked by andesitic crystal rock and breccia lava shows an eruptive unconformity with rhyolitic crystal tuff lava of the underlying Liuluocun Fm.

Upper contact

Its top is also in eruptive unconformable contact with rhyolitic lithic crystal tuff breccia lava of the overlying Lingqiaocun Fm.

Regional extent

The formation mainly occurs in the Tangtadaling area south of Yanbei of Tonganling of the Hainan Island.
